I grew up on a farm near Wells, MN. I attended South Dakota State University and then transferred to Mankato State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Social Studies in 1989. I then taught 12 years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Then I taught second grade at Truman Public School. I then worked for the University of Minnesota at Franklin Elementary, here in Mankato, as a Data Collector under the Reading Excellence Act. I assessed students in grades K-3, observed and coded teachers teaching Reading and I interviewed various staff members. I then went to Kennedy Elementary in the same position under the Reading First Act. When the grant was completed I then taught Kindergarten at Kennedy Elementary for two years, and then I taught fourth grade for 4 years. I am currently teaching 3rd grade and loving the change that I am experiencing with my new students!
My husband and I live on a farm near Amboy with one daughter in high school while the other daughter is attending the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. I enjoy traveling, the Minnesota Twins, reading, walking and being with friends and family.
